OUR WORK

New Compassion For India has evolved and adapted to changing times over the last two decades, enhancing its feeding initiatives along the way. We have simultaneously introduced non-feeding endeavours to boost the impact of our core initiative, the school feeding programme. Children’s overall development and welfare are central to all our endeavours. Through these endeavours, we seek to contribute towards a world where children do not have to choose between food and education; they have the best of both.

Feeding Programes

  • PM POSHAN (Mid-Day Meal Scheme):The school lunch programme mainly covers children studying in primary (I-V) and upper primary (VI-VIII) classes in government and government-aided schools. In some states, children in secondary (IX-X) classes are also included in the ambit of the programme.
  • ICDS Anganwadi Feeding Programme: The target beneficiaries of ICDS feeding programme comprise pregnant women, nursing mothers and children in the age group of 0-6 years.
  • Breakfast Programme: It is designed and implemented to help address short-term hunger among school children and improve their concentration levels.
  • Food Assistance:he objective is to use the kitchen infrastructure for humanitarian relief work in times of adversity. While most of the efforts over the years have been at the regional level, during the COVID-19 pandemic, food relief was extended across the country.
  • Feeding Homeless Mothers:In Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, cooked meals are provided to homeless women who are vulnerable to hunger.

Non-feeding Programmes

  • National Endeavour for Student Transformation (NEST)
    • Digital Education-An attempt to bridge the digital divide and further digital inclusiveness by providing students belonging to economically weaker sections of society access to good quality, modern education free of cost.
    • Scholarship Programme -The initiative identifies deserving government school and college students from the underserved sections of society and helps them source scholarships so that they can pursue further education.
    • School Rejuvenation Programme-Based on the Government’s Model School initiative, this endeavour aims to provide a conducive environment for children through a series of infrastructural and academic interventions.
  • Abhay-A remedial classes initiative aimed at boosting children’s academic performance through activity-based learning and extracurricular activities.

Feeding for Education

Hunger shall not be the obstacle stopping children from receiving education and working towards a bright future!

We at the New Compassion For India, through our efforts to implement the Mid-Day Meal Programme (PM-POSHAN), strive to construct a healthy, nutritious and bright future for every child in this country.

With a vision that no child in India should be deprived of education because of hunger, our non-profit organisation has relentlessly worked towards implementing the Mid-Day Meal Programme (PM-POSHAN) in about 19,039 schools (government and government-aided) across the country.

With a reach spanning over 67 locations across 15 States and 2 Union Territories, we at the Akshaya Patra Foundation strive towards feeding the primary and upper-primary children with a minimum of 450 and 700 calories respectively on a daily basis.

Having achieved the milestone of feeding about 18,00,907 children every day, our non-profit organisation has the distinction of being one of the biggest NGOs in India that implements the Mid-Day Meal Programme (PM-POSHAN) in schools.

Our efforts have been significantly bolstered by numerous charity donations, government grants and donations from selfless philanthropists who aim to make this world a better place.

We, at the New Compassion For India have been carrying out numerous NGO works including feeding children from socio-economically challenged sections, feeding lactating mothers, providing food assistance during times of disasters and primarily, driving away malnutrition from the face of India for over 22 years now.

With a goal to bring in 3 million children under our wings and provide them with nutritious meals under the mid-day meal programme by 2025, our nonprofit organisation is open to collaborations and charity donations to realise our goals.

Beyond Meals

Securing investments that strengthen communities through constructive, collaborative, and innovative engagements with our partners have always been our topmost agenda.

Over the years, TAPF has partnered with influential institutions in both the public and private sectors to maximise the impact and influence of its projects and programmes across the country.

2

These partnerships provide us with financial support and help us run our programmes more effectively and efficiently. Increasingly, organisations have also been recognising the importance of value creation through social interventions along with business efforts.

TAPF has been the partner of choice for multiple government organisations and social and economic institutions to extend their humanitarian efforts and make a difference in society.
